New Director of Education
MileStone Academy’s Board of Directors are pleased to announce the appointment of a new Director of Education, Paige Schweitzer, an educator with over 20 years of experience in Baltimore County, Maryland, where she had extensive experience in teaching students with special education needs. She also served as chair of the English department in a large magnet school created for students with learning differences who are talented in specific areas of arts and technology. Schweitzer is committed to integrating students’ passions throughout their education and believes “It’s not whether or not you’re smart, it’s how you’re smart. We focus on the students’ inherent talents.
“I am dedicated to providing differentiated lessons with the best personalized instruction possible,” Schweitzer continues. “One of my goals is to create life-long learners who have built the confidence to take risks. By fostering an atmosphere that is supportive and engaging, students will gain the courage to accomplish tasks beyond their expectations, and in turn, become invested in their learning. I hope that through teaching and leading by example, my students become empathetic, 21st century model citizens who care about making a positive change in society.”
Also experienced in curriculum writing, Schweitzer has written published teachers’ guides for books chosen by the Maryland Humanities Council to be used in schools throughout the state. A graduate of Kutztown University, she also holds a Master of Arts degree from Loyola University.
