What is Autism in Black?

Autism in Black aims to support Black parents with a child on the spectrum through educational and advocacy services.

The organization is dedicated to bringing awareness to autism spectrum disorder and reducing the stigma associated with ASD in the Black community.

Meet Maria Davis-Pierre

Maria Davis-Pierre graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology.

She also has a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University.

As a licensed mental health therapist, Maria mostly collaborates with Black parents to supply support through education and advocacy training.

Her passion for working in the field stems from her journey when her daughter was diagnosed very early.

In addition to therapy, Maria has other titles, including coach, speaker, advocate, and author.

Her first published work, a Self-Care Affirmation Journal, is currently available on Amazon.

Maria’s unique approach to coaching and counseling exemplifies her drive and motivation toward greater acceptance and overcoming the barriers and personal struggles associated with raising a Black autistic child.

Maria specializes in and offers resources and services for families who have or may have a child with autism.
