Art: Pipe Cleaner Project
Students explored the qualities a line can have, and the different ways lines can be created. When one thinks of the word “line”, it is typically associated with 2D drawing. However, though they may not be as easily definable, lines make up the everyday objects around us. For example, when looking at a lunch box, the students were able to identify the types of lines they would use to create the lunch box if they were to make it into a drawing.
However, the students were challenged to create those lines 3 dimensionally, and create an object, or scene using the pipe cleaners, and showing examples of the different types of lines that were discussed in their lesson (vertical, horizontal, diagonal, zigzag and curvy). Above, are some of the creations the students made.
