MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • All proper licensure, certifications, and clearances to work in schools as required by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania:

  • Child abuse clearance

  • Criminal background check

  • Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint check; and

  • School Personnel Health Record with current Pulmonary Tuberculosis (TB) Skin Test.

Reports to the Director of Education.

Job Summary

School support staff provide specialized instructional support as well as support to students while they utilize school facilities. School support staff play an important role in ensuring students are learning in a safe and supportive learning environment. They can foster positive, trusting relationships with students and improve school climate by encouraging parent and family involvement in education. Because students connect with school support staff on many occasions throughout the school day, support staff can model positive behavior and send positive messages to students at Milestone Academy.

Essential Functions

  • Open all classrooms, adjust temperature, and ensure classroom set up is according to specifications.

  • Greet students in the morning and implement Covid-19 protocols: temperature checks, masks wearing, and use of hand sanitizer throughout the day ensure all students have masks and they sanitize their hands.

  • Track student daily attendance in the Student Information System.

  • Set up equipment in classrooms and make copies of materials for teachers.

  • Monitor lunchtime activities including use of kitchen and lunchroom to ensure Covid compliance.

  • Monitor outside activities at lunch.

  • Monitor classes to ensure completion of work when teachers are out of the building.

  • Work with small groups of students to ensure their understanding of materials.

  • Assisted Physical Education teacher in planning and implementing Field Day.

  • Assist Executive Director in maintaining school inventory.

  • Interview all students to create post high school transition plans.

  • Support progress monitoring of all students.

Terms of Employment

Salary to be established by the Director of Education and the Board of Directors.

EVALUATION: Performed Yearly.
